Current Handicap: 12.5

Golf Club: New York Country Club, USA

Handicap when I started using Shot Scope: 14.1

Shot Scope asks Mike:

What feature of Shot Scope do you like the best?

Pin Collect is my favourite feature. It’s an awesome way to work on proximity or at least identify how far you are missing your targets by.

How does Shot Scope help your golf game?

GPS while on the course is a huge help to navigate you around the course. That along with layups and hazards offer a competitive advantage; but obviously the GPS isn’t what makes Shot Scope. It’s what happens behind the scenes – the data collection. Identifying the holes in your game is a great way to improve.

What is your golfing goal?

Single digit handicap by the end of 2019 season. I want to hit more greens and fairways.

Favourite golfing moment?

Playing in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Invitational Pro-Am with Francesco Molinari.

For me the favourite thing about Shot Scope is having your own caddy and coach in one device. The V2 will navigate you around the course and when your round is complete, the stats will identify the strengths and weaknesses of your game.

Mike's putting statistics

PUTTING

This is where Mike makes his score, he is an exceptional putter – 44% of medium range putts is right up there with the best pros on tour! And 19% of long range putts, shows that Mike is not a man to be messed with on the greens. He may take a few shots to get to the green but when he’s there, just stand back and watch. Great job on the greens Mike!

Mike's approaches statistics

APPROACHES

This stat is affected by the inconsistences in Mike’s P-Avg distances. Once Mike has managed to level out his distances there is nothing to stop him from having over 30% of Green Success. It may seem like a big jump up from 18%, but in reality one small fix somewhere else can make this happen.

Another top tip for Mike, is to play for the middle of the Green, forget about the pin. Aiming to hit the ball here means there is more room for error, and if you hit it to the middle, you’re never going to be too far away from the pin.

Mike's short game statistics

SHORT GAME

Since Mike hits few greens, he has a lot of short game shots in a round, and these stats show that he is skillful around the greens. There is no hidden secret to get better at short game, just practise. Mike should continue what he is doing around the greens. Taking a closer look into his stats, Mike is very good using his putter, this should be his first choice of club (depending on the shot).

Mike's tee shots statistics

TEE SHOTS

If you follow Mike on Golficity, you may note that he plays with a bit of a fade. This is highlighted by his 35% of right misses. This is one area Mike should work on from the tee, perhaps it is a slight adjustment to his aim point or a little technique change. We hope to see you flushing some more drives up the fairways in 2019 Mike – aim for 50% Fairway Success as a baseline goal.

Mike's clubs statistics

CLUBS

Overall great distances, the new Titleist Driver is going a long way for Mike! There are a couple distance inconsistencies within his P-Avg stats though. For example, distances should be spread out roughly 10-15yards between each club. I think the main issue is with his 7iron, based on other club distances, it should really be going nearer the 180y mark (currently 165). Perhaps Mike needs to work on his iron play a little, to gather more consistent distances.
