Shot Scope have recently launched some game enhancing features for both the X5 and V5 GPS watches making them even more useful on the course.
Rain Mode, available on the X5 only, has been developed based on user feedback to improve performance during heavy persistent rain. The Dual Greens feature has been released to give players all the distance insights they could need on these holes, making it easier than ever to pick the correct club on these unusual greens.
Starting with the X5 golf watch, we can now share that Rain Mode has been released and is now available to download via firmware update. Instructions on how to update your X5’s firmware can be found at the end of this blog.
To enable Rain Mode, once a round has been started, simply open the Game Menu before scrolling down to Rain Mode, then confirm your selection by either tapping or pressing the crown button.
Once enabled, Rain Mode will disable the touchscreen whilst retaining all functionality and features. Instead of using the touchscreen to operate the X5, golfers instead can use the crown and back button.
To disable Rain Mode, go back into the Game Menu before navigating to ‘Rain Mode’ and pressing the crown button, then select ‘Disable’, this will enable the touchscreen once again, returning the X5 to its normal status.
Similarly, should you finish a round whilst Rain Mode is enabled, it will automatically disable upon the round’s completion.
Shot Scope have also released a Dual Green feature for both the X5 and V5 watches. For some golfers, this may not be a feature that they require very often, and for others, this will be a welcome addition to their watch.
If you find yourself playing a course with dual greens, you will now be able to differentiate between the two greens on your X5 or V5 watch.
Upon encountering the dual green, the watch will display the distance to both greens on the main front, middle, and back screen.
Players can also select the green they want distances to via the Hole Maps feature or within the Green View feature.
Within Hole Maps, players will be able to select the Left or Right green within the map menu. Players can easily identify which green has been selected by the pin icon on the map of the green.
To select, or change, the green within the Hole Maps feature, open the map menu before navigating to ‘Switch Green’. This will allow the golfer to change the green they are receiving distances too.
Alternatively, within the Green View feature, players can open the menu which will give them two options, ‘Exit’ and ‘Switch Green’. Then simply select ‘Switch Green’ and choose the appropriate option.
Upon selecting their desired green, the golfer’s watch will update their selection for all other features i.e. if the player picks the left green on Hole Maps, it will update on Green view too and vice versa.
When on the main front, middle, and back screen, distances to both greens will always be displayed.
Step 1: Open the Android or iOS mobile application and connect to your Shot Scope GPS watch.
Step 2: Once connected to the watch, click on the update firmware button at the top of the page. The firmware update can take between 5 to 12 minutes to update
Step 3: Check the firmware revision on your watch by scrolling to “Settings” then “Firmware”. The watch should display one of the following firmware versions X5 – 2.2.0 or V5 – 1.8.40.
This is a new update that will not only improve your experience with your Shot Scope watch, but guarantee that all future features are installed and function correctly.
